Characteristics of this type of boat include:
Greater sail area - Deeper keel - Higher quality and more complete deck fittings
Thinner hull, less high and therefore lighter - Large cockpit designed for efficient handling (and very comfortable!)
Comfort is practically equivalent to that of cruising boats.
Performance is significantly better than that of a standard cruising boat. The gain is most noticeable in light winds and close-hauled conditions. With 10 knots of wind, the Bavaria 35 Match sails at 6 knots within less than 40° to the wind, compared to 4 knots at over 45° for a classic boat.
