The boat is sold with all equipment (we do not currently have a detailed inventory, many fittings and hardware to see on site).
Sale due to death - any serious offers will be considered (no exchanges).
The boat is well built, but the new owner will need to update it on various aspects:
- cleaning the elbows to restore its beauty
- painting work required
- engine overhaul
- electrical system overhaul
- hull maintenance needed (last maintenance around 2021/2022)
Important: due to the situation, no transfer or handover of the vessel will take place.
As the boat is unique, we may not be able to answer all questions.
Xboat will not provide work estimates.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE SHPOUNTZ by Daniel BOMBIGHER:
The LADIES series: length of the deck: 13.20 meters
- Beam: 3.90 meters
- Draft: 1.50 meters
- Sail area: approximately 130 m²
- Maximum load: 13 tons
The Lady of Bermuda at 13.20 meters is undoubtedly the yacht in which I have integrated the most innovations! Its design and construction specifics make it a true yacht, whose price is barely higher than that of a well-equipped plastic boat of the same size.
I primarily aimed to design a fast and easy-to-maneuver boat, and I am not joking! I am not at all athletic, nor have I ever been. I am an offshore sailor who enjoys cruising and values simplicity and efficiency onboard.
Above all, I like arriving at port in good shape! During an extended stay in St Georges Lagoon, Bermuda, I first admired American buga eyes and Bermudian schooners.
Their beautiful shapes, of rare elegance and incredible simplicity, command admiration.
Their hulls with sharp chines and tapered sterns, built with traditional lapstrake techniques, inspired me to transpose them into marine plywood.
Note: this does not mean lightweight marine plywood on planking and bulkheads, but thick marine plywood on a robust frame, to obtain a solid, heavily displaced boat with high inertia.
With its V-shaped hull, the boat is seaworthy in all circumstances.
Its behavior is extremely pleasant: no rolling, no pitching.
I managed to design the chine so that it is horizontal and aligned with the waterline line.
Thus, it becomes invisible! Even heeled! Lady of Bermuda offers the grace of a rounded hull, it is a real yacht! Or rather a Lady! thanks to its pure and sleek lines.
The marine plywood construction has thus reached the level of luxury yachting and has been awarded a prestigious status for the first time, while becoming a reliable, robust, and durable construction method.
Thanks to epoxy resins, maintaining this yacht is, of course, very easy.
Her Bermudian rig, or three sails, is remarkably simple and can be managed solo.
Sails take 15 minutes to hoist and 2 to reef.
The interior layout is designed for a family or a couple wishing to entertain friends. Everything is spacious and generous: kitchen, chart table, office, salon (2 single berths or 1 double berth), cabin with double bed (1.50 m x 2 m), shower room with shower. Everything is large, which is quite unusual for a boat of this size. This impression is further reinforced by the connection to the forward cabin via a bulkhead with a wide opening:
Closed, it isolates the forward cabin and preserves privacy.
Open under the deck, the boat forms a large cabin offering panoramic views along its entire length.
Lady of Bermuda is suitable for all types of navigation: weekend cruises, tropical crossings, and even northern latitudes.
The construction method used for Lady in its standard sharpie version cannot be implemented by an amateur.
However, the boat can be easily finished from an empty shell, or the main finishing work can be done by a boatyard.
For amateurs wishing to build such a yacht themselves, I have designed a version with a rounded hull, simplified using molded wood technique.
Two sail plans are available for this version:
- Bermudian rigs, Bermudian rig
- Mam' Racoon, gaff rig. (this is the model presented in this listing).
Attention! These amateur versions must be built upside down and flipped!
The budget needed for materials, fittings, and accessories depends on your choices, and you should expect between 6,000 and 8,000 hours of work depending on your organization.
