Always very popular in the fast cruising catamaran market, this CATANA 50 from 2011 was managed for charter from 2012 to 2016 by Dream Yacht Charter in Martinique.
A complete refit was carried out during the first six months of 2017 to address the shortcomings of the charter and to upgrade its equipment, making it a safe and comfortable boat for long-distance cruising. This program was limited to exploring the Caribbean arc, the Atlantic US and Atlantic Canada, as it was interrupted by COVID-19. A repatriation by cargo during the pandemic allowed it to be brought back to the Mediterranean.
A set of sails from 2017 including main sail, solent, and gennaker enables fairly dynamic sailing with perfect visibility thanks to the two steering stations on the rear console. The two daggerboards provide very appreciated windward capability.
LOUARN is a 4-cabin version, with the two aft cabins featuring separate beds that can be converted, and 2 forward, each with a head. The salon is bright, finished in light wood, with an open U-shaped galley overlooking the cockpit, very functional and well equipped. It faces the main chart table, oriented forward, and a L-shaped salon with a foldable and telescopic table.
In terms of equipment, it meets the needs of long-distance cruising with a generator, desalination unit, solar panels, fridge and freezer, ice maker, and a comprehensive electronics system including Iridium, etc. The two Volvo 75 hp engines allow for reasonable fuel consumption of 4.5L/H each at 7 knots.
