DUFOUR 41 CLASSIC “GARFIELD” — 1996 — CONTINUOUS MAINTENANCE HISTORY
CAP MED BOAT & YACHT CONSULTING presents this Dufour 41 Classic from 1996, named “GARFIELD”. With its 11.89 meters length overall, 3.97 meters beam, and a draft of 1.89 meters, this cruiser by Dufour Yachts offers one of the best volume-to-living space ratios of its generation: three cabins, eight berths, and two bathrooms with toilets—an uncommon configuration for this size.
What sets this unit apart is the continuity of its upkeep. Structural components have been maintained over the years: standing rigging and roller reefing replaced in 2015, upholstery, linings, cabin carpets, Jabsco toilets, pumps, piping, and faucets redone in 2017, three deck panels replaced in 2018. Some interior varnishes have also been refreshed. The boat has been modernized recently: service battery bank and engine battery replaced in July 2026, anchor chain replaced at the same time, portable VHF replaced with a new Icom IC-M37E, and a stainless steel gas barbecue installed.
The engine is a Yanmar 3JH2-TCE on saildrive SD31 with a three-blade propeller, with approximately 2,800 hours recorded at the last inspection. The mechanical maintenance is documented and regular: oil changes, filters, turbine, belt, cooling hoses, and exhaust elbow replaced, with a new water pump in 2026.
The wardrobe is particularly comprehensive for cruising: genoa on roller furling, well-maintained semi-lattée mainsail, gennaker with sailbag, symmetric spinnaker, roller furling jib, storm jib, furled staysail, tacker, spinnaker pole, and breezer with lazy bag. Two spare sails, genoa and mainsail, accompany the boat—dormant but useful for emergency repairs.
The autonomy has been enhanced: two 180 W solar panels (360 W total) with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 30 A regulator, a set of four 110 Ah service batteries, and an independent engine battery. On board, a two-burner gas stove, refrigerator with compressor, pressurized water system, and 410 liters of fresh water divided into two tanks allow comfortable long-range cruising.
The anchor system features an electric Cayman windlass with remote control and 65 meters of 10 mm chain. Electronics include a Raymarine ST4000/ST6000 autopilot, Geonav Gypsy GPS, knot-speedometer, depth sounder, wind vane, anemometer, and a fixed VHF RT55 with AIS.
Safety measures are comprehensive for offshore navigation: an 8-person life raft, eight life jackets, eight harnesses with lanyards, jacklines, a horseshoe buoy with distress light, flare kit, three fire extinguishers, and a backup tiller.
An honest family cruising sailboat, maintained without interruption for years and ready to set sail again. Contact CAP MED Boat & Yacht Consulting for a detailed inventory and to arrange a visit.
