Moonen 70 (1989) – Extended Moonen 65 with exceptional transom
There are yachts built for beautiful photos, and others designed for the sea. This Moonen belongs to the second category, without sacrificing elegance.
Moonen is a Dutch shipyard founded in 1963. It has become a benchmark for long-range cruising yachts, renowned for their build quality and capability to navigate far. This yacht was designed by René van der Velden, with naval architecture by Stolk Marimecs. It combines Dutch craftsmanship at its best: a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure, and a displacement keel that provides reassuring sea handling and great comfort at sea.
What makes it unique is its stern. Originally a Moonen 65, it was extended at the stern to become a Moonen 70. It gained an exceptional swim platform, rare on a yacht of this size. Perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply living close to the water at anchor.
With 8,000 litres of diesel, it cruises at around 9 knots consuming approximately 40 litres per hour. It is a true expedition vessel, equipped to Category A, ready for long crossings as well as summer anchoring.
Onboard, 4 cabins accommodate 8 guests: a master suite with private bathroom, a VIP cabin, guest cabin, and crew cabin with its own bathroom. The deck is finished in authentic teak, and the saloon offers spacious volumes. The boat is air-conditioned and heated, equipped with a desalination system and a 2015 Onan generator.
