Built for the sea: Designing a V6 block exclusively for marine applications allows Mercury to build the 4.5L with the best protection available, using cast iron components wherever the engine contacts seawater and corrosion-resistant aluminum composite materials everywhere else.

High-performance power: Thanks to its new long-distance spiral intake manifold, which draws in more air and converts it into additional torque, the 4.5L has an exceptional power-to-weight ratio and delivers the power of a V8 in a V6 package.

Smooth and quiet: The rear-mounted, recently designed 4.5L throttle body, its noise attenuator, engine cover and cradle, lightweight flywheel, fuel module, and structural oil pan all contribute to smooth idling and operation, plus low noise and vibration levels for a better boating experience.

Anti-corrosion protection: The MercFusion paint system creates an external barrier against the elements, while MerCathode provides automatic galvanic corrosion protection. For maximum protection against saltwater effects, the engine can be equipped with the SeaCore hard anodizing system and closed cooling circuit.

Sporty handling: The 4.5L also features Adaptive Speed Control (ASC), which automatically maintains engine speed regardless of load or water conditions. The result: better acceleration and a sportier feel.

Easy maintenance: When maintenance is needed, it is facilitated by the front-mounted drive oil level indicator, color-coded service points, easily accessible oil filter and oil fill, and online informational videos accessible via the QR code on the label.
