Quieter than the competition: The Mercury 115 FourStroke is quieter than a competing 115 hp 4-stroke at all speeds.
At idle, Mercury runs four decibels quieter than competitors—the competing outboard is 25% louder.
At cruising speed, where conversations usually take place, the competing outboard generates nearly 15% more noise.
At full throttle, Mercury is more than eight decibels quieter—the competing outboard is 50% louder.

Counter-rotation: Do you enjoy offshore boating even if you don’t plan to buy a large boat? Mercury offers, for the first time, a 115 hp FourStroke engine with left-hand rotation. Two of these midrange beasts on your transom provide the handling and docking security of larger twin-engine hulls but at a much more wallet-friendly price. Unlike competing twin 115 hp engines, Mercury FourStroke twin 115s are Command Thrust models that drive V6 category propellers, like those in the Enertia series, to provide better acceleration and improved control in rough waters.
*Available only on 115 hp
Powerful and efficient: Thanks to their reduced weight and large displacement, Mercury’s new FourStroke 80 - 115 engines generate generous torque and instant power. As they do not need to work as hard as heavier or smaller displacement engines, these engines enable boats to plane faster, accelerate better, and offer superior fuel efficiency at cruising speed.
Lightweight and energy efficient: Mercury’s world-renowned engineering team has concentrated incredible power into these lightweight, compact four-cylinder single overhead cam engines. The 115 hp weighs 9 kg less than its closest competing 4-stroke, making it the lightest low-emission outboard in its horsepower class worldwide.
The dry weight is that of the lightest model. Comparative weights refer to base engines without oil, propeller, or integrated steering cylinder. Weights are based on owner’s manual specifications.
Bigger footprint: The larger Command Thrust gearcase creates a bigger footprint in the water, improving boat control. The larger streamlined gearcase, combined with a larger diameter propeller, can get a heavy boat on plane more easily and keep it there at lower speeds with no impact on top speed.
Guaranteed quietness: Equipped with the same lifetime maintenance-free valve train as our FourStroke 150 engines, the FourStroke 80-115 hp outboards are incredibly durable.
Smoother than the competition: The Mercury 115 FourStroke produces less vibration and offers a smoother ride than a competing 115 hp 4-stroke.
At idle ahead, vibration levels at the driver’s seat are up to 50% lower than the competing outboard.
At the transom, the competing outboard vibrates nearly five times more than Mercury at both cruising and full throttle speeds.
