Enhanced features:
Mercury FourStroke 8 and 9.9 hp outboards include:
- A new three-position starter with no priming button, for improved starting, simplified start procedure, and faster engine preheating.
- A richer air/fuel mixture at idle for easier starting and better idling performance (models with tiller handle).
- Modified ignition timing allowing anglers to find and maintain optimal trolling speeds.
Command Thrust: Unmatched power. Longer and with longer components, Mercury’s Command Thrust transom has been specifically designed to deliver the power, push, and control required for larger, heavier boats.
The difference with Command Thrust:
- A 20% larger propeller increases control, especially at low speeds.
- The longer transom shifts the propeller lower into the water, beneath turbulent water. Result: better performance.
- A low gear ratio of 2.42:1 provides the thrust and maneuverability needed for heavy loads.
- An oversized anti-cavitation plate prevents air intake into the propeller, increasing efficiency.
Easy and practical tilting: Lower the tiller handle to easily lift the outboard in any position, thanks to our exclusive rear transom with ratchet mechanisms.
