Mercury FourStroke 8 and 9.9 HP outboards include:
- A new three-position starter with no choke button, for improved startup, simplified starting procedure, and faster engine pre-heating.
- A richer air/fuel mixture at idle for easier starting and better idle quality (for model with tiller handle).
- Modified ignition timing to help anglers find and maintain optimal trolling speed.

Command Thrust: An unmatched power. Longer and incorporating longer components, Mercury’s Command Thrust lower unit is specifically designed to deliver the type of power, push, and control needed for wider, heavier boats.

The difference with Command Thrust:
- A 20% larger propeller increases control, especially at low speeds.
- The longer lower unit dips the propeller deeper underwater, beneath turbulent water. Result: better performance.
- A low gear ratio of 2.42:1 provides the thrust and maneuverability essential for heavy loads.
- Oversized anti-cavitation plate. This prevents air intake into the propeller, enhancing efficiency.

Practical and easy tilting: Lower the tiller handle to effortlessly lift the outboard in any position, thanks to our exclusive rear transom arm with ratchets.
