Shaft drive transmission, a choice that Rio Yachts offers for some of its models, despite the current market dominance by IPS systems and outboard engines. Shaft drive transmission is favored by enthusiasts for several reasons.
First of all, it generates little friction and is less affected by barnacle proliferation, thanks to its design with a single propeller. Moreover, it offers a more optimal navigation trim, allowing boats to plane more horizontally, which improves sailing comfort and visibility. Boats equipped with this transmission are also more responsive during tight turns.
