Designed by Simonis Voogd, it was created to meet a clear need: a fast, modern, and accessible boat for clubs, training, and racing, without unnecessary complexity. Inspired directly by its big sister, the FAREAST 28R, the 23R features the same sleek lines and performance DNA, in a more compact size, easier to trail, launch, and operate daily. With its characteristic reverse bow and wide transom, the FAREAST 23R is highly efficient upwind and particularly lively downwind. Under established conditions, speeds in the mid-teens are common. The deck layout has been designed to remain simple, ergonomic, and effective. The boat can be operated by crews of various levels, from racing clubs and schools to passionate amateurs. It positions itself clearly as a “grand-prix” boat in its category, while remaining healthy and non-intimidating. The hull provides an excellent balance of stability and glide, with a generous ballast ratio of 44%, strong shape stability, and a reduced wetted surface. The absence of a forestay allows for a very modern rigging: a square-top mainsail, a large forward triangle, without runners or complex maneuvers to manage when tacking. The boat prioritizes simplicity and sailing pleasure.
