SUN ODYSSEY 52.2 – VERSION 4 CABINS / 4 HEADS – LONG DISTANCE CRUISING
For sale, a magnificent Sun Odyssey 52.2 from 1999 in 4 cabins and 4 heads with WC configuration. This cruising sailboat was acquired in Croatia in 2011 and has mainly navigated in the Caribbean and Central America since, approximately four months a year. It benefits from a layout particularly suited for long-distance cruising and onboard living.
The boat measures 14.92 m on the official length, 15.55 m overall, with a beam of 4.85 m and a draft of 1.80 m thanks to its bulb keel.
The engine is powered by a Yanmar 4JH2TE of 100 HP, showing around 4,800 hours. Carefully used, never pushed beyond 2,200 rpm, it starts perfectly and offers a reasonable fuel consumption at a speed of about 5 knots at 1,800 rpm.
The rig consists of a large genoa on an electric roller with 120% overlap, a roller genoa ideal for close-hauled sailing in a breeze, as well as an in-mast furling mainsail, all in very good condition. The standing rigging was completely replaced in 2010. The boat also features a large deck canopy, a spacious bimini, and a custom-made anodized aluminum davit arch installed in 2013.
The arch supports four solar panels totaling 540 W, as well as a Caribe 6-foot dinghy delivered with two outboard motors, a Yamaha 15 HP two-stroke and a Hidea 5 HP two-stroke. The anchoring system is equipped with a new Lofrans Tigre windlass of 1,700 W installed in 2025 with 50 meters of 12 mm chain.
The electronics include a Raymarine 7000 autopilot with type 2 power unit, a Raymarine depth sounder, a recent NASA wind vane anemometer, a Garmin GPS plotter with radar, an Advansea T56 outdoor display, a Mer Veille radar detector, a Class B AIS receiver, a fixed VHF, a Victron 30 A charger, and a Quick 1.5 kW bow thruster.
For onboard autonomy, the boat is equipped with a 60-liter per hour watermaker installed in Trinidad in 2014, known for its reliability and simplicity. The battery bank consists of 500 Ah of service batteries, 100 Ah for the engine, and 100 Ah dedicated to the bow thruster. A portable 1,300 W generator completes the equipment.
A particularly well-equipped Sun Odyssey 52.2 for cruising, ready to continue new navigation with its future owner.
