DESCRIPTION:
LA GAILLARDE: classic boat designed for fast, comfortable, and safe cruising by ABEKING and RASMUSSEN in 1939. Maintained meticulously by successive owners (6) and renowned shipyards (Campers & Nicholson, Fernand Hervé…), skilled in woodworking.
Operable with a crew of 2, LA GAILLARDE features 6 berths distributed in 2 double cabins + 2 additional berths in the saloon, offering all the comfort of a modern boat.
Member of the Classic Yacht Club, La GAILLARDE sails approximately 3000 miles each year in its sailing area from Portugal to Ireland and England. Its recent and rich sail inventory (15 sails), inspected annually, allows sailing in all weather conditions.
Built in solid teak non-calked, on bent oak frames, copper riveted, always fully varnished and regularly inspected (keel bolts replaced, rivets redone in 2016, deck and superstructure renewed in 2012). Rigging and sails overhauled in 2019. All interior fittings and equipment (engine, electronics, comfort elements, etc.) redone in 2016.
Heritage interest classed BIP (Ship of Heritage Interest – see website https://www.patrimoine-maritime-fluvial.org/navires-du-patrimoine/navires-bip-search/la-gaillarde/), she can be classified as a "Monument Historique" if the new owner desires (this classification grants certain financial advantages - port spaces, maintenance works, access to privileged zones, etc.). She has a yearly berth in the port of the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle under specific financial conditions.
