Information provided by the owner:
"This Hatteras 53 was built by the Hatteras shipyard in 1979 and launched in 1980. It is very habitable and spacious. It is ideal as a secondary residence on the water. Solid mahogany interior woodwork. Very large flybridge, all sunbathing areas are new. Teak swim platform.
Main features of aft cabin motor yachts. The 53’ is the most successful mid-sized motor yacht ever built by the Hatteras shipyard, with over 600 units produced in various configurations and layouts from 1971 to 1989. This classic motor yacht owes its great popularity to its excellent craftsmanship, spacious layout, and sailing qualities.
Its spacious accommodations, reliable and robust twin Detroit 8V71 TI engines (turbocharged diesel engines with intercooler, with a power of 2 x 420 HP), make it an ideal yacht for extended cruising or very comfortable living aboard. You will be amazed inside by the mahogany woodwork and original equipment.
The ship's interior at deck level is arranged with a pilothouse forward and a salon aft. The aft deck is accessible through varnished wooden and glass swing doors located behind the salon. A curved teak staircase, starboard and forward of the pilothouse, leads to a custom galley area. Forward and below the galley is the forward cabin with two single bunk beds and a storage closet to starboard prepared to receive a washing machine, as well as a shelf and the head to port. Aft and below the galley, a longitudinal corridor extends aft between the engine rooms, with the guest cabin, configured with two single side-by-side beds and a storage closet, to port. The guest heads are to starboard. The corridor ends in the master cabin, arranged with a queen-size island double bed located in the middle, heads forward and to starboard. Engine rooms are located to port and starboard beside the corridor.
The main salon and pilothouse are easily accessible either through the varnished teak swing doors of the aft deck or through the pilothouse area forward via the port and starboard sliding doors of the side decks leading forward.
Entering the spacious solid mahogany salon, you will be immediately impressed by the beautiful woodwork and natural light thanks to 360-degree windows (port, starboard, forward, and aft). Two large port-side sofas/lounge, convertible double bed furniture on starboard.
The pilothouse is forward and open to the main salon on the same level: central helm station with full engine controls, gauges, and electronics. Starboard side entrance to the curved teak staircase leading to the galley and lower deck with the (3) cabins and heads, as well as the engine rooms.
The cabins: the spacious master cabin is aft and at the end of the lower deck staircase and includes the following: king-size island double bed located transversely and against the port side with storage drawers underneath and a dresser. Master suite bathroom. Large midship guest cabin with 2 twin beds side by side, bathroom located to port opposite the midship guest cabin. Located forward of the galley area is another guest cabin with 2 stacked single beds to starboard, private entrance to the forward guest head.
The Flybridge is accessible from the lower aft deck by a stainless steel ladder with teak steps through a fiberglass hatch with upward opening. Upper helm station at the center with wraparound railing and windshield at the forward edge of the flybridge area. The upper helm station of this Hatteras 53 features full engine controls, gauges, and electronics. Accessible engine rooms are conveniently located to port and starboard of the lower staircase."
